Our 16-week paid and benefit-eligible returnships give returners work assignments that help them rejoin the workforce. Qualified candidates may be offered full-time employment at Amazon.

During your returnship, we invite you to:

Chart your own path. The things you explore, the chances you take, and the impact you have are driven by your ideas. Your experience is in your hands.

Accelerate your growth. Be bold, take risks, and learn quickly by doing challenging work with help from your mentors and peers.

Bring your voice. We value individual expression and respect different views. We work to create a culture where each of us plays a part.

Arathi S.

Technical Program Manager II, Global Mile | Remote

After working in software for 17 years, Arathi decided to become a teacher. She taught programming at a community college for three years before taking a break to focus on her family. During that break, she wrote technical articles, learned mobile programming languages, and released a mobile gaming app.

Two years later when she was ready to reenter the workforce, she came across Amazon’s Returnship Program. She now works as a TPM. She manages the planning and execution of programs, products, and services for cross-border transportation.

Arathi was looking for opportunities that would offer her the time and support she might need to get back into the industry. Her Amazon returnship provided just that.

Michael M.

Software Development Engineer | Seattle, WA

Michael moved from his hometown in South Florida to Seattle and started working at an Amazon distribution center. Just over a year later, he came across a job listing for a return-to-work program for corporate roles.

Michael decided to join as a returner because his experience with the company culture convinced him that a returnship would be a great option after taking a career break.

Michael was assigned to work on a project in its design stage. He was given meaningful tasks and feedback from mentors. He's been impressed by the vast number of resources that Amazon offers for personal and career growth, which he's been able to use and carry with him into his current role.

Carolina S.

Quality Assurance Engineer II | Remote

When Carolina married and moved from Argentina to North Carolina, she stepped away from her career to raise her children and teach Spanish at an elementary school. During her time away, she stayed on top of technology advances in automation frameworks, machine learning, and trends. She wanted to join Amazon because it’s both customer- and employee-centric.

After being away from software for seven years, Carolina often feels like she has stepped out of a time capsule. She says she learns something new every hour. Her favorite part of working here is the kind, bright people. She likes that her hiring manager and teammates are invested in the success of her journey.
